Pipe 400

LCS Briars pipe 400!! The Chrysalis Freehand, the grain on this pipe demanded that I make the most of it. As I was sculpting the pipe I could see the idea of a pipe emerging from the block, this can be seen on one side where the shape of a dublin pipe seems to emerge from the briar, hence the name ‘Chrysalis’. The stem is acrylic saddle and the plateau is coated with a tinted shellac to match the grain highlights. I did notice a little surface scarring on the inside of the bowl, possibly from the chisel, so I will be applying a bowl coating to even out the bowl surface.
